Collection: Acropora

Acropora corals are a genus of small polyp stony (SPS) corals that are highly valued in the aquarium hobby for their intricate branching structures and vibrant colors. They are found in shallow reef environments in the wild and require high levels of light and water flow to thrive in the aquarium.

In terms of care requirements, acropora corals can be challenging to keep and require stable water parameters, consistent water flow, and intense lighting. They can be sensitive to changes in water quality and temperature, and may be susceptible to predation by certain types of fish and invertebrates. It's important to provide them with appropriate space in the aquarium to allow for their growth and branching structures.

Acropora corals are primarily photosynthetic, obtaining much of their nutrition through the process of photosynthesis. They have zooxanthellae, a type of algae, living inside their tissue that produces energy through photosynthesis and provides the coral with organic compounds that it needs to grow and thrive. They can also capture small prey with their tentacles, such as zooplankton and other tiny organisms.
